The Nd.Yag laser has a much longer wavelength than other lasers and is suitable to treat Fitzpatrick skin type’s I-VI. It has a wavelength of 1064nm. Its skin penetration is much deeper than other lasers and its effect on melanin is minimal which is why this laser will achieve better results on a higher Fitzpatrick skin type. Long pulses of Nd.Yag 1064 laser light are absorbed well enough to cause hair follicular damage but not well enough by epidermal melanin to significantly alter skin pigment.
Advantages of the Nd.Yag
- Works on all skin types and is most suitable for higher Fitzpatrick skin types
- Minor damage to the skin
