There are many other ways of removing hair; the only proven method of permanently removing hair is Electrolysis.
-
Electrolysis works by inserting a fine needle down the hair shaft into the follicle and then a small electric current is applied which then destroys the root - Electrolysis is similar to Laser in that the hair needs to be in the growth phase of its cycle for the hair to be disabled which is why you need repeated treatment
- Electrolysis is suitable for everyone no matter what skin or hair type
- You may need anything from 10-30 treatments and as you may need so many, treatment can be quite expensive but in the long run should be viewed as an investment
- As each hair is treated individually, each session, depending on the area being treated could take anything between 5-60 minutes
- Treatment can be quite uncomfortable, patients may experience a slight stinging sensation
- There are 3 different types of electrolysis: Galvanic – this type of electrolysis is applied by a direct current, this in turn creates a chemical change around the hair follicle of salt and water to lye. This is an effective form of electrolysis but is quite slow. Shortwave diathermy – this is known as high frequency or radio frequency and uses an alternating current to create heat in the follicle. Blend – this type of electrolysis is the direct and alternating currents combined which has a chemical and heating effect on the follicle
- If electrolysis is carried out by an inexperienced or unqualified practitioner then there is the risk of bruising, burning and scarring. Make sure you research the clinic and practitioner before receiving treatment
Electrolysis when carried out properly by competent practitioner is the ONLY way of permanently removing hair.
